Modest Fashion: Casual Blues Outfit 1

A year ago, I asked a few sisters ‘what was modesty to them’ I got an array of answers which I hope to share for each of my modest OOTD (Outfit Of The Days) posts. Some of the answers are personal whilst others came from inspiration.  I pray that you are inspired by that which you read and see from these posts. Please share this post with your fellow sisters in Christ.

Cover up
The telescope of insight can gaze through the portals of the past. We can stand in the garden of Eden with Adam and Eve as they were to be dressed by the Lord himself. They sewed themselves belt-like “aprons” these God viewed as inadequate (Gen 3:7) and instead designed them “coats” (Gen 3:21). Both men and women were to be clothed appropriately to cover their nakedness. In biblical times to “uncover” one-self was a euphemism for sexual intercourse (Lev 18:6, 20:17). This passage of scripture tells us that this act of undressing with the intent of exposure was indecent and shameful. Call it old fashioned, but the principle is biblical and timeless. Dress reform will challenge the modern world to say, there is a portion of our bodies that should remain distinctly our own selves or should be reserved for the sanctity of the marriage union. Moses was told to make Aaron “linen breeches to cover their nakedness” (Exodus 28:42). The Lord has chosen us as a royal priesthood we should also make it a priority to be well covered (1 Peter 2:9). The sad fate of the end time church of God is that we are so desperately “naked” (Rev 3:17).  Shared by sister Ruth

                                                         Casual Blues

Blue is one of my favourite colours to wear. In the Bible the children of Israel were instructed to wear blue as a reminder to keep the commandments of God, the colour connotes the need to be righteous.

38 Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue:39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the Lord, and do them ; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:40 That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.41 I am the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the Lord your God. - Numbers 15: 38-4

Although, we do not need to wear blue as a reminder to keep the law of the Lord, it is pleasant to see the link between clothing and righteousness. Like the children of Israel let us dress in a way that will reflect Christ’s righteousness.
