Why is Sunday Kept as the day of Worship and Not Saturday?

As part of BEDA (Blog Everyday in April) I have decided to explore what the sabbath is. Previously, I had outlined that the Sabbath is on Saturday the seventh day of the week and begins on Friday sunset to Saturday content. In this post I will be establishing "Why Sunday is Kept as the day of Worship and Not Saturday?"

23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.- Daniel 7:23-25

The above excerpt from Daniel the seventh chapter refers to the rise and fall of worldly kingdoms. The word beast is not in reference to a monstrous fictional character but is in fact about earthly rulers/kings.

These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.” – Daniel 7:17.

The chapter looks at some of “the rise and fall of the world's great empires—Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome. With each of these, as with nations of less power, history repeated itself. Each had its period of test, each failed, its glory faded, its power departed, and its place was occupied by another.”  - Ellen White

Our focus is on the fourth kingdom the Roman empire as we know the previous states have gone. Although, the prevalence of the Roman empire may appear to have somewhat diminished that is not the case. We still can evidence Romish influences the most apparent being the Roman Catholic church.

The fourth kingdom…shall think to change times and laws. The fourth kingdom is the Roman Catholic Church and they have aimed to change the fourth commandant that relates to Saturday being the true Sabbath. I say aimed because there are many who still observe this command.

Satan, working through unconsecrated leaders of the church, tampered with the fourth commandment also, and essayed to set aside the ancient Sabbath, the day which God had blessed and sanctified (Genesis 2:2, 3), and in its stead to exalt the festival observed by the heathen as “the venerable day of the sun.” This change was not at first attempted openly. In the first centuries the true Sabbath had been kept by all Christians. They were jealous for the honor of God, and, believing that His law is immutable, they zealously guarded the sacredness of its precepts. But with great subtlety Satan worked through his agents to bring about his object. That the attention of the people might be called to the Sunday, it was made a festival in honor of the resurrection of Christ. Religious services were held upon it; yet it was regarded as a day of recreation, the Sabbath being still sacredly observed.”- White, 1888 p.52

Who were some of those we conspired against the Word of God and tampered with is commandments?  In the early part of the fourth century the emperor Constantine issued a decree making Sunday a public festival throughout the Roman Empire. (See Appendix.) The day of the sun was reverenced by his pagan subjects and was honored by Christians; it was the emperor's policy to unite the conflicting interests of heathenism and Christianity.” White, ibid

From the Appendix:
The Sunday law of Constantine.—the law issued by the emperor Constantine on the seventh of march, a.d. 321, regarding a day of rest from labor, reads thus:
"all judges and city people and the craftsmen shall rest upon the venerable day of the sun. Country people, however, may freely attend to the cultivation of the fields, because it frequently happens that no other days are better adapted for planting the grain in the furrows or the vines in trenches. So that the advantage given by heavenly providence may not for the occasion of a short time perish."—joseph cullen ayer, a SOURCE BOOK FOR ANCIENT CHURCH HISTORY (NEW YORK: CHARLES SCRIBNER'S SONS, 1913), DIV. 2, PER. 1, CH. 1, SEC. 59, G, PP. 284, 285.

The Sabbath was changed by the Roman Catholic church in an attempt to honour the heathen festival the venerable day of the sun and in an attempt to take the place of God.

“The Catholic Church, … by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday” (The Catholic Mirror, official publication of James Cardinal Gibbons, Sept. 23, 1893).

“Protestants do not realize that by observing Sunday, they accept the authority of the spokesperson of the Church, the Pope” (Our Sunday Visitor, February 5, 1950).
As the song writer says “Those who speak the truth must say it was man who changed the day. In God words no change appeared through the whole 6 thousand years”

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you” - Deuteronomy 4:2

"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” - Revelation 22:18-19
